  • Kwanzaa  is a celebration held in the United States and in other nations of the African diaspora in the Americas and lasts a week. The celebration honors African heritage in African-American culture and is observed from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a feast and gift-giving.<br />

Kinara (candle holder), Mishumaa Saba (seven candles) and fresh fruits that represent African idealism.  <br />
<br />
The center is a black candle representing the first principle is Unity (Umoja). To the left of the black candle are three red candles representing the 2nd principles of self-determination (Kujichagulia), 4th principle is Cooperative Work and Economics is(Ujamaa) and the 6th is principle is Creativity ( Kuumba).<br />

5th Principle is Purpose (NIA)<br />
7th Principle is Faith (IMANI)

  • The kirpan is a sword or small dagger, originating from the Indian subcontinent, carried by Sikhs. It is also part of a religious commandment given by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699, in which he demanded that Sikhs must wear the five articles of faith (the five Ks) at all times, the kirpan being one of five Ks.<br />
