Dreadlocks Face Covering Mask - GOR-183573-20

Dreadlocks, also locs, dreads, or in Sanskrit, Jaṭā, are rope-like strands of hair formed by locking or braiding hair.

People have begun to wear face covering and face masks in public because of the emergency over coronavirus pandemic. First it was no gathering of more than 500, then it was no public gathering at all. Events were either postponed or cancelled.

The dreadlocks hairstyle first appeared in Jamaica during post emancipation. It was a means of defiance for ex-slaves to rebel against Euro-centrism that was forced on them. The hairstyle was originally referred to as a “dreadful” hairstyle by the Euro centric Jamaican society.
