Chinese Lion - GOR-125548-cE17

Lion dance in the Year of the Rooster.

The performers mimic a lion's movements in a lion costume. The lion dance is often mistakenly referred to as dragon dance. The difference is that a lion is operated by two people, while a dragon needs many people and in the lion dance, the performers' faces are covered, since they are inside the lion.

The new year, also known as the Spring Festival, the Rooster is one of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. The Year of the Rooster is also translated into English as Cock or Chicken.
