The Native Americans of Setauket were called the "Setalcotts" which is Algonquian for "land at the mouth of the creek." They were among the first of the tribes to make contact with Europeans in the 1600's.
The Setalcott Nation is a multi culture made up of Native American, French, Dutch, English, Irish and African descent.
