Abortion Rights Rally Foley Square - GOR-196364-cE22

Politico leaked a Supreme Court opinion draft to strike down Roe v. Wade, the 1973 court case that guaranteed the right to abortion.

The demonstrations are all in response to the Supreme Court's anticipated decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The opinion also suggests overturning the 1992 case Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which reaffirmed the right despite allowing several restrictions. In the leaked draft, Samuel Alito, a conservative justice appointed by George W. Bush, called Roe v. Wade “egregiously wrong from the start.”

Their message was simple: It's a woman's right to choose.

Planned Parenthood marched across the Brooklyn Bridge with thousands participating rally in Foley Square in Lower Manhattan.

The color green, which has come to symbolize the pro- choice movement. In the last few years, the “green wave” has swept Latin America, achieving \abortion rights wins in Argentina, Mexico, and Colombia.
