Outdoor Hospital Floral Display - GOR-186387-cE20

Floral display in front of Lenox Hill Hospital in Greenwich Village by florist Carlos Franqui from Floratorum and Leatal Cohen from Pic and Petal.

Carlos and Leatal have their own separate floral design companies came together about collaborating to create an art piece for the hospital in honor of mothers day.

When Covid hit, both were affected by the lack of events and retail closures of storefront florist. Carlos reached out to Northwell Health with their idea. Once we got the OK, they went to work to find donors for the materials preserved floral and was shipped out from Ecuador. They got together the day before to prep the flowers, this installation was the symbolic rainbow across the nation which signifies support for the healthcare heroes on the front lines of the crisis and for Mother's Day.

Their hope was to offer a pick me up that can be viewed each time someone entered or exited the building. Inspirational quote that signified what they were trying to achieve came from a Lady Bird Johnson's quote, "Where flowers bloom, so does hope".

The day of the install took 8 hours, the weather was in the 40's and it rained the entire day. The installation will be up for about a week or two.
