CEREC state of the art technology. Close up of 3D Ceramic Dental Reconstruction on Computer Screen, step by step: Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided machinery
(CAD/CAM) An optical 3D image is acquired with a small camera in he patients mouth.
The restoration is created on the screen using the image data. Diamond coated instruments mill a ceramic block to reproduce the design. After polishing a new restoration fits precisely. A light hardens the bonding material, uniting porcelain and tooth. Polishing ensures a smooth and natural feel.
The color and appearance makes the ceramic material blend with the teeth. The porcelain is then bonded to the patients teeth.
A crown is basically a cap for a damaged tooth. It can be made from a variety of materials, including metal or porcelain.
