Putnam County Sheriff's Office Street Crime Unit. Pro-active unit going after drug dealers, officer patting down suspect while other officers are searching suspect car for drugs and other evidence, making arrest ....The Street Crimes Unit is a unit comprised of 16 highly trained and motivated deputies and one supervisor who's primary responsibility is the proactive enforcement of street level vice crimes, especially narcotics and weapons offences. The team members have all volunteered and were specifically chosen for this position, which is in addition to their normal duties. The Unit is a highly visible, very aggressive component of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office with the primary mission of improving the quality of like of our citizens by reducing open-air street level vice crimes. Each mission is planned and a briefing is conducted prior to every mission to pass along useful information and to maximize the use of assets and manpower. The unit's highly motivated and professional approach to street level vice crimes has been very successful in the arrest of numerous suspects and the seizure of a large amount of narcotics and illegal weapons.
