SpirometElainery is a common office test used to assess how well your lung s work by measuring how much air you inhale, how much you exhale and how quickly you exhale. Spirometry is used to diagnose asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other conditions that affect breathing.

During the procedure, the doctor of technician will place a clip on your nose and ask you to blow into a tube that's connected to a machine that measures both the speed with which you're able to exhale and the quantity of air you expel in the process.
