Stanford White is the 19th-century architect during the Gilded Age,
"This very grand and elegant Parisian-style apartment building was erected in 1905 and converted to a cooperative in 1978. The building s has a very impressive entrance that leads up a flight of stairs to handsome marble vestibule with very attractive doors leading into a spectacular lobby with elaborate Art Nouveau-style bas reliefs on the side walls and a marble floor. The 11-story building is surrounded by a deep dry moat and the entrance is flanked by tall limestone lampposts. The façade, which is topped by a two-story mansard roof, has many bay windows and several attractive wrought-iron balconies. The 42 apartments have very tall ceilings.
