By late March or the first week of April, the Callery pears are inn bloom, providing a soft white canopy on many New York streets.

Their tiny five-petaled flowers are loosely clustered, allowing plenty of light to play among the dark branches, so that to walk down a street lined with these tall trunks is to feel embraced by soft clouds.
