• Politico leaked a Supreme Court opinion draft to strike down Roe v. Wade, the 1973 court case that guaranteed the right to abortion.

The demonstrations are all in response to the Supreme Court's anticipated decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The opinion also suggests overturning the 1992 case Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which reaffirmed the right despite allowing several restrictions. In the leaked draft, Samuel Alito, a conservative justice appointed by George W. Bush, called Roe v. Wade “egregiously wrong from the start.”

Their message was simple: It's a woman's right to choose.

Planned Parenthood marched across the Brooklyn Bridge with thousands participating rally in Foley Square in Lower Manhattan.

In shifting U.S. policy, Biden faces a tough balancing act, particularly given the sudden outbreak in Cuba of an exceedingly rare string of protests that have morphed into the largest act of civil disobedience there in years.

During the nearly two years before Trump effectively shut it down, Obama’s diplomatic outreach to Cuba failed to achieve many of its goals, including the release of political prisoners and increased openings for private enterprise. Yet Biden has said his goal is to quickly change what he called “the failed Trump policies that inflicted harm on Cubans and their families,” and allow Americans to travel there as “the best ambassadors for freedom.”

 • Brick x Brick is a public art performance that builds human “walls” against misogyny. During the wall performances, participants wear brick-patterned jumpsuits adorned with colorful brick patches bearing statements of misogynistic violence made by Donald Trump. Placing divisive words on the jumpsuits is a symbol of our resistance and determination to maintain control over our bodies. Linking hands to form community walls of individuals further blocks and subverts the harmful messages that subjugate women. When standing in wall formation, they hold silent space that amplifies our message and builds unity through passive participation with the audience.
• Supporters turned out in droves in support of the Animal Rights March. Numerous organizations and speakers also shared inspiring messages in support of animal rights. Campaigners called the march “a consolidated global effort to make the vegan voice heard.” It’s estimated that in New York City alone, roughly 2,300 people took to the streets.

Animals are mutilated, confined to tiny cages, and violently slaughtered so that humans can eat them; electrocuted, strangled, and skinned alive so that humans can parade around in their coats; burned, blinded, poisoned, and cut up alive in laboratories; enslaved, beaten, and kept in chains to make them perform tricks for humans’ amusement; and worse.
• New Yorker's honor the 50th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "mountaintop speech" as it was replayed in Washington Square Park on Tuesday. King delivered the speech on April 3, 1968 in Memphis where he had gone to support to that city's striking sanitation workers.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s voice echoed throughout Washington Square Park Tuesday evening, delivering his “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” sermon.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and first lady Chirlane McCray hosted the event, in which King’s image was projected on both sides of the arch, to honor the speech’s 50th anniversary.

It was delivered April 3, 1968, the day before Dr. King was assassinated at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis.

“Fifty years ago today, he wrote a speech which defined his life’s journey,” de Blasio said in his introductory remarks.

King had traveled to Memphis to support African-American sanitation workers in their fight for higher wages.

The speech focuses on themes of economic justice and ends with a famous meditation on his own mortality.

King was in the middle of planning the Poor People’s March, a political campaign against economic disparity that ended with a march on Washington, D.C., later that year.
